Hail the Master

It is no coincidence that whatever you read on this blog may lead you to believe that Im influenced by Frederick Forsyth. I think Forsyth is the absolute master of story telling. 'The Day of the Jackal' ranks very high on my list of all time books and his other efforts, even though they may pale in comparison before the Jackal, are absolute masterpieces. His power of narrative is second to none and if you still need any convincing refer the entire chapter which he has devoted to assassin's gun in the Day of the Jackal.

Forsyth's short stories are crisp with well etched characters and tight plots. I have marvelled at Forsyth's economy of words in weaving a rich plot and the cruel magic in his climaxes with a savage twist at the end.

It is only with Forsyth in mind that I attempt to write some short stories. I cant hope to emulate, even less surpass, but I'd like to get close. Time will tell.
